callaway diablo forged irons set

Company line: "This callaway diablo forged irons produces more distance than other forgings due to its thin, energy-efficient face, an undercut cavity that improves head stability on off-center impact, and a lower, deeper CG for penetrating trajectory. The forged steel body and welded face provide soft, responsive feedback. The face is 25-percent lighter than in the X-22 and has 23 grams more in the perimeter."
Our Testers say:
PROS: High, soft trajectory with 8- and 6-irons; just enough workability to move the ball gently left or right; distance control is a plus; good accuracy, a bit of built-in forgiveness; well-balanced iron facilitates smooth swings; clubhead momentum is beneficial in rough; combination of graphite shaft and forged head gives smooth impact feel.
CONS: Mixed findings for feel, several testers prefer more feedback than they experienced with forged head/graphite shaft combo; 3-, 6- and 8-irons were the only clubs available at the time of testing; many guys want more help with off-center hits.

callaway diablo forged iron specs

Now when referring to looks, I am not talking about the red paint and all the other fancy trappings and engravings Callaway seems to be pouring into this entire line of clubs. In this case I'm referring to the fact that Callaway has gotten pretty close to the absolute finest of lines between Game Improvement and Better Players Clubs. While these aren't "blades" by any stretch, as far as Game Improvement Clubs go, these are darned close. The top line is pretty darned thin, and the soles are narrower too. The offset is minimal, and there's no portruding anything on the back end at address. If you want the full effect, you can even have a steel shaft--even though it is uniflex.
Forged Precision and Feel
The soft, carbon steel body is perimeter weighted for enhanced playability and combines with a precision welded 455 Carpenter Steel face to provide incredibly soft, responsive feel at impact.

Accuracy and Workability
The callaway diablo forged iron specs sleek, compact head shape features a thin top line, narrow sole, shorter blade length and minimal offset, providing premium control and shot-shaping performance for a wide range of golfers.

Configured for Distance
The irons generate better distance than other forged clubs because of a lower, deeper center of gravity that promotes a strong, penetrating trajectory. The undercut cavity improves stability on off-center hits and the thin, energy-efficient face increases ball speeds.

OVERALL
I'm giving these a full 5 stars, but just barely. If they were just a couple of hundred cheaper, I'd be droning on and on about how 5 stars isn't enough and all that rot. In the meantime, they deserve the 5 stars despite their price for several reasons. Callaway has truly taken the time to literally--"forge a club" for the lower mid-capper to scratch player who has a repeatable swing, but needs a touch of forgiveness and more distance than what is available from just a standard forged club. There was a lot of high tech metallurgy involved in pulling off a forged cradle and a 455 Caprenter Steel Face, and maintaining the optimum feel of both. Callaway took the high road, and went in a new direction rather than just playing it safe with yet another "Big Bertha" or "X-Forged" set. KUDOS!

Callaway Diablo edge driver review

The lofts available are 9, 10, 11 and 13 degrees, with only the 10 and 11 degree models being available in left hand as well as right.
We tested the 10 degree lofted Diablo Edge driver, which was equipped with the Aldila Habanero graphite shaft in stiff flex.
When first standing over the club at address, it’s hard not to notice that the callaway diablo edge driver head is abit unconventional looking in its shape. In fact it’s very similar to the Big Bertha Diablo driver from Callaway, being quite a bit more triangular than you’d expect.
However like in the case of the Big Bertha Diablo, it doesn’t stop the club from actually setting up quite well, and as such the head shape isn’t really likely to unease that many golfers. To add to that the club overall is fairly light in weight also.

It’s almost impossible to not be extremely impressed and almost amazed at how powerful and strong callaway diablo edge driver review is. The golf ball just explodes off the clubs massive face, and this results in some incredibly long, high drives.
Many players who have used this Driver for the first time often claim of seeing increases in up to 30 or 40 yards from their previous drivers.

The Diablo Edge irons provide increased distance without compromising feel or performance. The lower, deeper center of gravity (CG) makes the sweet spot more accessible and is in line with where amateurs most commonly hit the ball on the clubface, generating longer, consistent distance and improved accuracy.
The Top Flite/Strata/Ben Hogan acquisition continues to pay dividends for them. The quality control is so obviously back on line after years of simply living off of their reputation. The fact that they actually made two very good versions of this club instead of making a "Tour Version" as some sort of afterthought, speaks very highly of the company as a whole. The tour version sports the Habanero Shaft with a higher kick point, tad less torque, and slightly lower flight angle. It is available in 8.5, 9.5 and 10.5* lofts. All Tour versions sport face angles of 1* open.

Callaway Diablo Edge Driver shaft

The Callaway Diablo Edge Tour Driver is specifically designed for the advanced player. It has all the great attributes of the Diablo Edge Driver, meaning a decided distance advantage every time the ball is teed up. The aerodynamic body consists of four pieces of fused Titanium, making it light yet incredibly durable. The Diablo Edge Tour Driver offers superior face technology, a higher MOI, a deeper CG and better aerodynamics as well as a smaller head size at 450cc. The smaller head and even lower cg offer long ball distance for the better players out there. Look sharp and play even sharper with the new Callaway Diablo Edge Tour Driver.

For skilled and not-so-skilled amateur golfers alike, finding a driver that one can pick up and hit long, straight, and reliably is no easy task. That’s why clubmakers continue to push the boundaries of design science just as far as the USGA and the R&A will allow; it behooves players like us to avail ourselves of these advances. The Callaway Diablo Edge Driver(for $199.97) is a prime example of this concept in action (long-down-the-middle action). Hit the jump to get our thoughts and see how this devilish driver can help you put your partners to shame.
Our experience with the Diablo Edge was certainly a positive one. Prone to a high or ballooning ball flight with his current driver, or tester was able to able to produce consistently optimal trajectory with the Diablo. Even better, the club was very forgiving, as off-center hits did not typically produce disastrous results. All this while offering more than adequate distance. Our test club, which was equipped with a factory stiff-flex, Aldila Habanero shaft, seemed much attuned to a smooth, slightly relaxed swing. That’s a good thing, unless you like to swing out of your shoes with regularity. Really getting after a shot tends to result in a bit of a squishy feel, thus we’d encourage those with higher swing speeds to opt of a custom shaft option that plays more true to its rating. Still, this is a minor gripe and no fault of the clubhead itself.
